DISCIPLINE


The bad news is that there is no magic pill, no amazing diet, not even a perfect workout, a healthy lifestyle takes effort. You need to be disciplined, come to the gym when you don’t really feel like it, don’t eat that bar of chocolate because you’re bored. We’ve said many times that life is all about balance but it does take effort.


Oxford Languages define discipline as to ‘train oneself to do something in a controlled and habitual way’. Healthy habits lead to a healthy lifestyle. If you plan to come to the gym three time a week, then do that. Everyone has competing demands on their time but prioritize yourself. How much do you spend on your car to keep it roadworthy, servicing, repair, MOT, etc. Spending on money on gym membership and/or Personal Training is not really a luxury, its part of keeping you healthy and able to life live to the full. As Jim Rohn says ‘Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live’.


So next time you’re in the gym, don’t skip the exercise you don’t like, or the last set, or the last few reps, remember it’s about discipline. If you’ve been meaning to rejoin and get back in the habit of coming to the gym, what are you waiting for…?
